My work focuses on the culture of West Texas. Specifically, the contrast between it's romanticized depiction in classic Hollywood film and the desolate small towns I grew up in.
My original character, Cowboy Buddy Blue, is an amalgamation of the stereotypes and local heroes I have encountered during my time in the panhandle. His female counter part, Missy Mae, is loosely based on my own experiences as a woman, living in a region that teaches dependence on male heroes and the importance of feminine delicacy.
